On the reveal date, this year it was postponed till the10th, everyone reveals on their Blogs what they received and what they made with their Soup. There are hundreds of people taking part and it is very inspirational to see what everyone made with their Soups.
I love the Soup Brendalee sent me as these are some of my favourite colours and the stampings are things I am working with at the moment.
I am a Textile designer and I always incorporate (Vintage) fabric so
I added some of these fabulous pieces.
These are embroideries made by the Hmong people of Northern Vietnam,
with the tiniest stitches I have ever seen.
With the beads that were left over I made some individual Bohemian earrings. You can choose which ones to wear and if you lost one earring it would not matter as you can use another one!
I love how they turned out.
The memory wire bracelet is already a favourite. I incorporated a few handmade beads made from vintage French silk. |
Brendalee also included a doily that her Grandmother had made years ago and I wanted to do the craftmanship justice. I stiffened the lace and made them into earrings. And a little bit also went to make a bead for the bracelet.
I had a lot of fun making lots of things with my Bead Soup and I love how these pieces turned out!
Thank you Brendalee for an awesome Soup and Lori for the opportunity to take part.
Good health and happiness to you and your family.
Brendalee makes fabulous jewellery and you can find her at
and her blog http://silverbee.typepad.com/

Thank you for stopping by.
So beautiful, Marjolein! I like the way you use and honor those old Hmong textiles. They give depth to your jewellery. The colours are beautiful (as allways in your work), feminine but sophisticated. The first necklace is my eye candy!
ReplyDeleteThank you Susanna for your lovely comment! It is truly special coming from you whose work I so admire!
DeleteBeautiful! Just beautiful, what else can I say!
ReplyDeleteMarjolein ( I went to school with a girl with that name- good memories) your pieces are works of art. What you have done with the Hmong fabric not only honors their culture in a spectacular way, but gives new life and beauty to them. Honestly, I'd expect to see these in a museum somewhere. They are truly beautiful. Christie
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful creativity and imagination!! You did a wonderful job on your soup, and the addition of the Hmong fabric really showcases your designs!
ReplyDeleteWow! That first necklace is an absolute poem; I'm in awe!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe of work you've done! You not only a designer of jewellery but an author of it as well. All the pieces are beautiful and each have a story to tell. Thank you for making the earrings with the doily...I was quite touched. Thank you for your bead soup...you were a great partner!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I don't know what is happening with my sign-in but it keeps defaulting to a blog that is many many years out of date.
Thank you so much everyone. I am truly humbled and touched by all your wonderful comments!
ReplyDeleteWow I have no words sufficient to describe your work. Each piece is a work of art and has so much meaning to it. They feed the soul.
ReplyDeleteLoving how you put those elements together. I think the first necklace is my favorite -- it hangs beautifully.
ReplyDeleteOh my these pieces are the most original I have seen so far! That necklace is simply stunning! It is not easy to use embroidery, so bravo!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of non matching earrings! Great soup ideas!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Every. Single. One! Love them!
ReplyDeleteThose Hmong pieces are amazing! And I love the Bohemian earring idea!
ReplyDeleteI have no words to say how beautiful and rich your jewelry is. Your use of materials, colors and design is just amazing. Every piece is a work of art!
ReplyDeletewhat an incredible talent you are! I am speechless, Marjolein! I joined your followers! thanks for the beauty! jean
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean for your wondeful comment. I hope I can do it justice!
DeleteAll of your creations are beautiful, but that first necklace is just WOW!
ReplyDeleteAnd I absolutely love the idea of the Bohemian earrings! So cool☺
Thank you Thank you all for your wonderful comments everyone. I give you all a big hug!!
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed with your handling of the piece from Vietnam... they are all such statement pieces and you should be proud of your work!
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the amazing embroidered pieces. And those Bohemian earrings are divine, I love the idea of mixing them up or just wearing one. I would be swapping and changing them all day! Clare x
ReplyDeleteYour creations are stunning! Loving the individual Bohemian earrings - what a fantastic idea!
