Bead Soup Blog Party Hop

This is what I have made:

I was lucky to be chosen to take part in the fifth Bead Soup Blog Party, and if you would like to see what every one else has made, click this link

My partner Elke sent me a wonderful soup. Small beads, larger beads, pink beads, a smiley face charm and the lovely pinwheels she made. This soup proved a more difficult soup then I thought at first. The pinwheels are wired and the majority of beads too small to be wired and needed to be strung. It was a problem for me to find a way to "marry" the two. I also found the green beads threw the colour scheme out but I found a way to incorporate them. I used a piece of Vintage Japanese Kimono fabric to tie in the darker green colour and made a necklace with matching earrings and two bracelets.
I added the flowershape as a focal, added pearls some blue beads all recycled and new silver tassles. This project has been really fun to do and I have learned soo much from doing it. I hope Elke will like what I made from her soup and I am looking forward to finding out what she made with the vintage soup I sent her.
I always work with recycled beads in my projects as you can see on my website It has been such a wonderful experience to be part of a group of fellow bead enthusiasts and I feel very priviledged to have been part of it. Just don't look too closely at the finished bracelet as I need a lot more practice with wiring beads!!!

Hip Hip Hooray Lori!!!for organising this wonderful Bead Soup Blog Party.

  18. Marjolein, what a wonderful soup you have created! The ingredients Elke sent you are amazing, but I think I would have had a tough time working everything into a design. The pieces you made are just beautiful. My favorite is the necklace - I love the length and the tassles, and the recycled kimono fabric perfectly compliments the beads you received. Beautiful job! :) Molly

  22. WOW!! That necklace is absolutely stunning! It's revolutionary! I saw it and I thought, my God she used a scarf--how AWESOME is that? (I wish I had thought of it!) But I guess you created a lovely sash from the kimono fabric for it--I absolutely LOVE that. And the fabric is so perfect for the other elements--a delicate wash of pastel florals. I love the two levels there--first with the flower focal and then the waterfall of beads below it. And I love how the back is also a work of art--that fabric (like all kimono fabric!) is beyond beautiful. Bravo! on a really unique and gorgeous piece (you really have a way with fabric).
